IBT Media Unifies Newsweek's Global Editions

NEW YORK, July 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- IBT Media, a global news organization, today announced that Newsweek's EMEA (Europe/Middle East/Africa) edition will now fall under the guidance of the U.S. team and Editor in Chief, Jim Impoco. Newsweek'sLondon-based staff will report to the New York City-headquartered newsroom that will handle editorial management and production operations for the US, EMEA and Asia editions.

"Newsweek is continuing to grow and gain momentum in the marketplace. With the recent launch of the Asia edition, we felt that this was an important moment to create a more unified editorial platform by having all of our Newsweek content creation led by Jim," saidJohnathan Davis, Co-Founder and Chief Content Officer for IBT Media. "We see this is as an exciting and strategic move for our brand."

As the London team integrates with the magazine's New York headquarters, Richard Addis is stepping down from his role as Editor in Chief, EMEA in order to focus on his own business but will play an advisory role at IBT Media UK. A London-based Europe editor, who will be named shortly, will lead the European editorial team and the edition reporting directly to Impoco. There will still be an emphasis on producing local and global stories for the European edition under the new structure.

"Richard was the ideal launch editor who quickly established Newsweek as a platform for distinctive, in-depth, award-winning journalism. We are grateful for his many contributions to Newsweek and for his tireless efforts in building the EMEA edition of the magazine over the past 15 months and look forward to continuing our relationship," added Davis. "Going forward, EMEA's readers can look forward to the same, high-caliber content with deep-dive storytelling and news from Europe, the Middle East and Africa as well as around the world. Our new Europe editor will maintain Newsweek's commitment to long-form journalism in the region and the EMEA edition will continue to be available in print and digitally across Europe, the Middle East and Africa."
